Is Eos Cruelty Free?

Last Updated on April 9, 2021 by Eco Elsie

Evolution of Smooth, better known as eos, may have only been founded in 2006, but it’s since become one of the most popular drugstore beauty brands.

They’re best known for their spherical lip balms, which come in a huge array of tasty flavors and super cute colors, patterns, and packaging.

This is probably why they’ve become somewhat of a collectible, as some people see them as an accessory to their outfits. More recently, eos have branched out into making other skincare products such as moisturizers and lotions.

But is eos cruelty-free?

Is eos Cruelty Free?

Yes! Fortunately, all eos products are 100% cruelty free. This means that none of the ingredients in their products are tested on animals.

It also means that they don’t sell their products in countries that enforce cosmetic animal testing such as China. The eos brand is Leaping Bunny Approved by the Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC). You’ll be able to find the bunny logo on their packaging.

Eos has openly stated that the company previously sold its products in mainland China. In order to be in compliance with China’s strict regulations on the matter.

Fortunately, this is no longer the case, and they’re now completely cruelty free. It’s important to note that eos gained the Leaping Bunny seal of approval after working alongside CCIC to undergo a thorough audit of the brand’s entire supply chain and ingredients.

This further confirms that eos products and ingredients are not tested on animals either by eos or its suppliers.

Is eos vegan?

No, eos is not a 100% vegan brand. This is because a majority of their products contain beeswax.

However, the brand has specified that all of its lotions, shaving creams and crystal lip balms are all vegan. According to eos, beeswax is the only animal-derived ingredient used across the brand.

While we can only hope that this changes in the future, we do appreciate how transparent the brand is about which of its products are derived from animals. This makes it easier for strictly vegan consumers to be absolutely certain of what is in the products they’re buying and using.

If you want to know more information about what goes into a specific product, eos encourage you to reach out to their customer service team who can advise you further.

Is eos an ethical company?

Yes, eos can be considered an ethical company. Eos says that they pride themselves in adhering to the strictest safety standards by using sustainably-sourced oils, butters, and beeswax for all of their products.

They even make the effort to ensure that all of their formulas are tested under the supervision of a dermatologist and every product is developed by expert scientists in their R&D lab.

Additionally, in an attempt to make an even greater impact on the planet, they have partnered with TerraCycle to help recycle the plastics in their lip balm spheres. And, in the process, they’re making a conscious effort to substantially reduce the amount of waste contributed by their products.

Does eos test on animals?

No. eos does not test any of their products or ingredients on animals, nor do they pay any third party to do so on their behalf. eos manufactures its products in America before shipping them to different parts of the world.

The brand sources the ingredients used to make the products from suppliers and manufacturers who are cruelty-free. Here’s what they had to say about it:

We do not test our products or ingredients on animals and we do not ask or require our suppliers to test on animals. eos products that are sold in China are manufactured there, using locally sourced ingredients and are not required to undergo animal testing.

Are eos products toxic?

All eos products are 100% natural as the brand claims that they only make them using organic and natural ingredients. They’re also open about the fact that a bunch of the ingredients that they use is certified organic by USDA.

They say that they only make their line of 100% natural lip balms with only wild-grown shea butter and hydrating coconut and jojoba oils for long-lasting moisture. Not only all-natural but great for your skin too!

You’ll also be relieved to learn that all eos products are paraben-free. Parabens are potentially harmful compounds that are sometimes used in cosmetics, although their use is becoming more and more controversial.

This is because consumers are becoming more aware of the dangers of putting parabens on their skin.

Here’s all the bad stuff that eos choose to leave out of their products…

  • No parabens
  • No paraffin
  • No petroleum
  • No palm oil
  • No gluten
  • No toluene
  • No coal tar
  • No oxybenzone
  • No triclosan
  • No phenol
  • No mineral oils
  • No SLS/SLES
  • No lead
  • No phthalates
  • No GMOs
  • No talc – hydroquinone
  • No formaldehyde

It’s also important to note that finding a gluten-free cosmetic brand isn’t always an easy pursuit.

But, fortunately, all eos products are 100% gluten-free. They’re also completely hypoallergenic in general, meaning those who suffer from allergies won’t struggle to find a lip balm that doesn’t trigger them. Here’s what they had to say about it on their website…

Our products do not contain gluten and are not exposed to gluten during manufacturing. The oat ingredient found in some of our products is certified gluten-free. Our products are also checked in the final stage for gluten traces as an added precaution.

If you’re concerned about the ingredients used in eos products or simply want to find out more, you can check out their website to read FAQs and review their full Ingredients lists for every product as well as their Transparency Declaration.
